the great thing about Malang that people always love is THE FOOD...

Malang has a lot of great foods and they're quite cheap.  You can find a lot of "down to earth" places to eat with a quite low price, and also a lot of fancy and nice places with quite low budget as well (compared to some high class restaurants in Jakarta of course)

Bakso Bakar 

This is my favorite meatball in the world.... it's only 1500 IDR/piece....

see, I've told you it's cheap... 

the best Bakso Bakar in Malang is : Bakso Bakar Trowulan, located in Candi Trowulan street..

just ask some local people, they'll know where the place is... :)

Bakso Malang a.k.a Bakwan Malang

another meatball... Maybe Indonesians know Malang because its famous BAKWAN MALANG...

you can find a lot of places with BAKWAN MALANG board in several cities in Indonesia, but the best BAKWAN MALANG only exists in Malang.... hahahha.. and again, it's quite cheap, 500-1000 IDR/piece.... 

I can't really recommend the place because mostly BAKWAN MALANG in Malang has a good taste..  :)

Nasi Pecel

This one is incredible!

8000-10,000 IDR/portion...

there are three favorite places to eat :

Pecel Panderman, Pecel Mbok Djo, Pecel Mbak Pur..

once again, you just need to mention the name to the local people, and they can show you the place...

woopss, there are a lot more in here..... 

Nasi Madura a.k.a Nasi Buk...

costs 15.000-20.000 IDR / portion...

most nasi madura in Malang don't have a special name..

so if you're interested to eat nasi madura... just email me to find the place... hahha.. :)

Tahu Telur a.k.a Tahu Lontong a.k.a Tahu Tek

10.000-30.000 IDR/portion

Nasi Goreng KeeTjie

when I first tasted fried rice in Jakarta, I hate it a lot!

people in Jakarta always make fried rice from soy sauce, while people in Malang use ketchup...

I know it sounds silly, but I hate fried rice in Jakarta...

hahhaha...

enough with down to earth places, let's move on to fancy places....

Malibu Steak n' Pizza

the steak is great, the pizza is even greater...

you'll love the place and the food in here...

you'll spend approximately 70.000-150.000 IDR on normal order (main course+beverage)

Bunga Bali Cafe
another steak house in Malang...
the place is cozy and comfy... the food is great...
recommended menu : glaze fritters (es krim goreng) for 24.500 IDR/portion 
located in Jl. Ungaran

Illy Cafe (Lai Lai Market Buah)
this small cafe is located inside a fruit market, Jl. Semeru... the place is so small, is more like a booth, but it's great...
You can find a lot of coffee and chocolate drinks in here with a cheap price..
when I first read the menu, I was so surprised...
almost every food and beverage listed there only cost less than 20.000 IDR !
It's so cheap for a cup of coffee or chocolate right?
the strawberry ice cream on the picture, it costs only
9.000 IDR
So if you want to hang out with your friends in the end of the month, this place is highly recommended!

Java Dancer Coffee
This is my favorite place to hang out with my friends...
the place is more like indie place, all woods decorated..
I never really like coffee, but in here, I always order Caramel Frappe. I fell in love since the first taste of it... 
there are a lot of snacks as well, my favorite snacks are : pisang goreng keju (you have to taste it! it's like heaven!), tahu goreng, and pizza...
the price start from 20.000-50.000 IDR for beverages
